Test buttons and testing coin mechs*
Use the red test button inside the door to check everything on the machine is working other than coin mech and note readers. It is particularly useful for setting voltages as you can test the machine without adding additional credits. The test button is great for testing everything is working on the machine EXCEPT the coin mechs and note readers.
Use of the test button will not add clicks to the coin meter, nor will it add clicks to the win meter if a prize is won. Clicks to the win meter only occur if there are credits on the machine. In addition, the Hard Grab will not occur if the test button is pushed - the claws will close with the voltage you have set.
It is possible a wire may slip off the lug at the back of the test button - if your test button doesn't work, check this. Test buttons can be ordered and replaced.
When you test a coin mech, a quick way to check it is clear of blockages is to use a foreign coin - it will go in and be rejected out of the bottom slot, which means the coin mech is clear - and very likely but not necessarily accepting coins (there can still be a jam in the coin mechanism which can only be seen by physically looking in it or putting a real coin through as a test credit).
If you wish to test the Coin Mech and Note readers are accepting coins, use coins and notes. When you inspect the cash box, make sure there is a good mix of $1 and $2 coins - if you have just $2 coins it may mean $1 is being rejected. Test it.
