AT THE MACHINE (Merchandising, Servicing, Collecting, Gameplay etc)
To get the best possible return from machines – regular visiting is the key!
For most sites weekly visiting is essential and for some sites more frequent visiting may be required during certain times, i.e. school holidays or long weekends.
We realise that some areas have a very large geographical spread and the turnover from some sites may mean only fortnightly visiting is required. Please talk to us if you have a site like this.
When you check up on a machine you should do the following:
- Greet the staff on site and let them know you are servicing the machine. This helps you maintain a relationship and they can see you are giving great service.
- Clean the glass and machine surfaces thoroughly.
- Check lights are working, if not then replace.
- Test the machine with a $1 or $2 coin to ensure it is functioning correctly. Check the note reader has notes in it – if not test it with a $5 note. There is no need to test the note reader every week as if the lights are flashing you can tell it’s operational – just if you suspect a problem because there are no notes in it.
- Complete CoinOp with meter readings, test credits, and amount of stock refilling.
- Top up the stock with what the prize meter says has been won, or what you estimate it has used and write this in the book. There is no need to physically count the toys each time, but doing periodic checks will help you catch issues, i.e. double pickups.
- Display the stock attractively with eyes facing forward. If it is a plush toy machine don’t have it squashed down with all toys on one level interlocked tightly, and don’t have it too fluffed up with toys sitting loose on top. Strike a happy medium – think about having mountains and valleys.
- If cashing up, remove money.
- Checkpay is within 25 – 35%. If not, find out why and adjust, or make a note if it’s just outside these margins to check again next week.
- Ask yourself what can I do to get more out of this machine. i.e. is it time to change the stock? Is there a better location? Would a promotion work well on this site?
- Complete CoinOp, including photos.
- If cashing up and paying on site, sort commission. If bringing back commission, hand over and have the slip signed.
- Perform any schedule maintenance.
- Get into a habit which ensures you know you haven’t left the machine unlocked when you walk away.
