False bases to save money
Franchisees often ask or suggest putting things underneath their prizes to save money, or if they are short on stock. While we agree this might save money, we believe it does look bad. We have seen competitors put large cardboard boxes underneath prizes to build the prize levels up, and the box gets quickly exposed. It looks terrible. This is partly because there is glass on three sides right down to the base, and the front of the machine is designed to show product through the sides too - nearly down to base level. This lower glass was developed over a period of time to make the machines look good from all angles, and to allow shorter people ie children to see the display better.
We believe using fillers is cheap and looks cheap. You may have been able to do something discreetly for a short period if you ran out of stock that didn’t get uncovered, but as a rule we are not in favour of this and don't approve it. It is not up to the high standards we expect.
Here is an example of a competitor who is using plastic balls to save money - looks cheap - just like the toys he is using.
If you have any ideas around the use of other objects or stock in the machine please email Thomas with your ideas as we are open to them.
