Caterpillar Clips
Undoing caterpillar clips can feel tricky at first — you might even feel like giving up. Don’t worry! With a little practice, you’ll quickly become proficient and the process will feel easy and natural.
The first clip is usually the hardest to remove. A helpful tip is to start with a clip in the “U” bend, as this often gives you a bit more room to get a finger in.
The technique:
Push down with your fingernail on the top of the clip, while pulling in the opposite direction with your finger inside the clip.
Important to remember:
With caterpillar clips, always remove the small top piece first before separating any links. When reassembling, reverse the process: connect the links first, then replace the top piece last. The links won’t separate while the top piece is still in place.
